Freeman's Front Porch Musings

My website to showcase my creative writings-such as they are.

Prompt Answer…

What is the last thing you learned?

Man, this thing doesn’t ask the easy questions, does it? Once again, I will assume its referencing writing. I’ve learned the importance of rewriting recently. For instance, my current project is Rhianna’s Tearful Chalice. I’m only ten pages into the rewrite, but the scenes seem much fuller, more detailed, and vivid.

I’ve gone to many conferences in the past few years, but I haven’t heard much in the way of rewriting. What I have heard is tons about self-publishing, how expensive it is to get an editor, and the importance of editing.

Rewriting has taught me much about the craft of writing. I’m enjoying the work, and things seem to flow better. Plus, I get the added benefit of cringing every time I see the mistakes I’ve made in my draft.

As a writer, I’m always trying to learn how to make my projects sharper. Rewriting has helped in that regard. So, there you have it. That’s a thing I’ve learned in the last week or so.

Y’all have a good day, and be safe out there.
