What activities do you lose yourself in?
I tend to lose myself in writing, reading, and the great outdoors. My love of writing goes back to my adolescent days, as does reading. I spent many days within the dusty, ole library thumbing through various Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew novels. In hindsight, I suppose reading was my way of expanding my world view.
Mississippi is chock full of hiking trails, lakes, and many hidden gems in the outdoors. I like to spend hours walking the trails, and when I have time, I like to sit next to a body of water. Whether I have a pole in my hand or not doesn’t really matter to me.
My grandfather, Earl aka Barefoot, loved to fish. I have many wonderful memories of sitting on a five gallon bucket waiting on the fish to bite. “If you want to be close to God,” he’d say, “You must learn to listen to the water.” I don’t know if the water drew me closer to Him, but I do find peace in listening to the bubbling of a brook.
So, there you have it. Y’all have a great day.
